Teacher's Scenario

Griffintown, An Urban Hike

Image

Take a tour of Griffintown, an historic Montreal neighbourhood, where traces of the industrial revolution in Canada and large immigrant communities can still be found.

Visit, in person or virtually, up to 21 key residential and industrial buildings as you use the https://www.griffintowntour.com/ website, and it's videos and explanations of 21 key sites in the neighbourhood.

In groups of 4 or 5, determine which 3 sites were the most significant, based on criteria for historical significance.

Then map those sites on a Cartograf map where you can pinpoint the exact locations, display the original videos (Vimeo or Youtube), upload (attach) your own photographs, include a description and explanation in your own words for the site, and finally add your argument for the site's historical significance.

You can then present your map to other students, or share it via a share code or link (see the Help page for how to share).

After copying that map, you can then rename it, delete the sample point and even change its description to introduce your project.

Note: The project idea that inspired this activity was shared by Jesse Hayes (LBPSB) can be found on LEARN's HQC site here.
